Is ACX worth it?

ACX is worth it if you are talented, have the time to audition for each title separately, and don’t mind making around $15 per hour. It is not worth it if you prefer direct assignments or simply don’t have the time to audition for everything. Also, if you don’t fancy being paid in royalties, that is the mode of payment for most of the titles.

Is ACX a good narrator?

Side note: I also have the high-quality equipment so that's not an issue. ACX is more of a training ground for aspiring narrators. The vast majority of titles available to audition for are "Royalty Share" (RS), meaning you don't get paid upon completion of the work - you get a percentage (20%) of the price of each sale, paid monthly.

How does ACX work?

ACX is quite simply a platform for authors trying to convert their text-based books into audiobooks. The client posts their book after confirming rights ownership and attaches a payment method and the pay rate in the description. Narrators audition, and the lucky one gets picked for the work.

Do you recommend ACX?

DO NOT BUY FROM AMAZON OR DO ANY WORK FOR ACX. I would not recommend ACX to anyone. My audiobook which I had professionally narrated, and on which the producer did a thoroughly outstanding job was on 'pending audio review' for over two months.
